藿烷藿烷hopane五环三萜类中分布较广泛的生物标志物,藿烷类化合物主要反映原核微生物(细菌)的输入.南极湖泊样品超临界流体萃取物中检测到丰富的藿烷类化合物.有三降藿烷,降藿烷,藿烷,升藿烷,二升藿烷,三升藿烷等,还检测到了丰度较低的伽玛蜡烷.这类化合物是石油和煤中常见的生物标志物。藿烷不是由生物体直接合成的,而是由死亡生物体经地球化学过程演化而来的.在早期成岩作用过程中形成的饱和烃类藿烷在构型上均以生物构型(r型)为主.在成岩过程中藿烷类化合物由生物构型逐渐转变为地质构型(s型),最后达到s型与r型的平衡状态[s/(s+r)=0.6].在水样中检出藿烷,而且22s/(22s+22r)17琢(h)21茁(h)构型升藿烷比值大于0.5,可以推断饮用水源水体已受到化石燃料的污染.原核生物与真核生物的最大区别就是其细胞膜中一般不含胆固醇,而是含有hopanoid(藿烷类化合物 )。
