膜翅目膜翅目Hymenoptera昆虫纲有翅亚纲的一目。全世界已知约12万种。体由小型1毫米左右到中型5~40毫米左右。体壁由很薄(赤眼蜂、蚜小蜂等)到强度硬化(胡蜂等)均有。色泽由浅黄褐色至黑色,有的呈蓝、绿、紫、红多种颜色,甚至具金属光泽。成虫一般具翅两对,口器咀嚼式或舐吸式,翅膜质,腹部第1节并入后胸,雌具由生殖附肢组成的产卵器的全变态昆虫。翅脉比较复杂,变化大,有些类群显著退化,后翅小于前翅,以翅钩连锁。产卵器往往变成适于锯、穿凿或针刺等功能的器官。全变态。幼虫常无足而具不同程度发达的头部。少数(广腰亚目)幼虫呈蠋状,具胸足和腹足。呼吸系统常为全气门式或侧气门式。蛹为离蛹。一般具茧,或无。膜翅目有植食性、肉食性和杂食性3种类型。该目昆虫种类主要包括蜜蜂、胡蜂、蚂蚁以及各种寄生蜂。膜翅目昆虫中的某些类群(如蜜蜂、蚂蚁)具有高度的社会习性。有些类群仍保持极原始的状态:幼虫营自由生活,以植物为食;成虫除选择寄主产卵外,对于子代漠不关心;幼虫彼此各不相干。具社会性的蜜蜂、胡蜂和蚁识别环境和记忆的能力相当强。蜜蜂不仅能够辨认方向和自己的巢房,而且能以特定的行为传递信息。在膜翅目昆虫中,植食性的叶蜂、木蜂和树蜂都是为害森林和某些农作物的有害动物。蜜蜂除采集花蜜酿造蜂蜜外,还是农作物、林木、牧草、果树、蔬菜和药用植物传粉的重要媒介。蜜蜂和胡蜂的蜂毒对人虽有毒性,但可治疗风湿性关节炎。蚂蚁虽然有某些地方(例如住房内)令人讨厌,但是由于蚁类在自然界中可捕食多种昆虫,因此人们往往利用它作为生物防治的手段。
