硼硼boron一种化学元素。化学符号B,原子序数5,原子量10.811,属周期系ⅢA族,为非金属元素。古埃及、罗马、巴比伦都曾用硼砂制造玻璃。1808年法国J.-L.盖-吕萨克和L.-J.泰纳尔用金属钾还原硼酸,制得了单质硼。同年,英国H.戴维用电解硼酸的方法也制得单质硼。硼在地壳中的含量为0.001%,在自然界都以化合物形式存在,最重要的矿物是硼砂(Na4B4O7·10H2O)。中国西藏黑河和青海柴达木盆地的盐湖蕴藏着大量硼砂。其他硼矿有方硼石(2Mg3B8O15·MgCl2)、白硼钙石(Ca2B6O11·3H2O)、硬硼钙石(Ca2B6O11·5H2O)、斜方硼砂(Na2B4O7·4H2O)、硅硼钙石〔CaBSiO4(OH)〕、斧石〔Ca3Al2BSi4O15(OH)7〕。硼可分为无定形硼和晶形硼。无定形硼为棕色粉末,晶形硼是灰黑色固体,熔点2300℃,沸点2550℃,相对密度2.34,硬度仅次于金刚石,较脆。在室温下,晶形硼相当稳定,无定形硼则会被缓慢氧化,加热到700℃,会在氧气中燃烧,火焰呈绿色。在高温下,无定形硼与氯、溴、硫、氮发生反应,生成相应的化合物,与熔融的氢氧化钾反应,生成硼酸钾,不与盐酸和氢氟酸作用,与浓硝酸反应,生成硼酸,也可与王水反应,晶形硼的化学性质更不活泼,基本上不与盐酸、氢氟酸、硫酸作用。硼的氧化态为+3,形成+3价化合物。硼的制法有:①用金属钠、钾、镁、铝还原氧化硼,可得无定形硼。②用金属钠还原三氯化硼。③用炭还原硼砂。④乙硼烷热分解。⑤电解熔融的氟硼酸钾。⑥氢还原法。将氢气和三溴化硼的混合气体通过加热到1100~1300℃的钽丝,被还原的硼在钽丝上形成片状或针状晶形硼,纯度可达99.999%。硼在高温时容易与氧气和氮气作用,在炼钢时用作除气剂。硼能吸收中子,但不产生高能的γ射线,所以硼钢可作反应堆的控制棒。硼纤维抗张强度大,与环氧树脂制成的复合材料用于飞机、导弹、火箭的制造。
