磷灰石磷灰石apatite化学通式为X5[ZO4]3(F,Cl,OH)的磷酸盐矿物的总称。式中X代表Ca,Sr,Ba,Pb,Na,Ce,Y等;Z主要为P,还可为As,V,Si等。最常见的矿物种是氟磷灰石Ca5[PO4]3F,其次有氯磷灰石Ca5[PO4]3Cl、羟磷灰石Ca5[PO4]3(OH)、氧硅磷灰石Ca5[(Si,P,S)O4]3(O,OH,F)、锶磷灰石Sr5[PO4]3F等。磷灰石晶体常见,属六方晶系,一般呈带锥面的六方柱;集合体呈粒状、致密块状、结核状;呈胶体形态的变种称为胶磷灰石,其矿石称为胶磷矿。磷灰石呈浅绿、黄绿、褐红等色,玻璃光泽,具不完全解理,断口不平坦,莫氏硬度5,比重3.18~3.21。加热后常可出现磷光。将钼酸铵粉末置于磷灰石上,加硝酸,可生成黄色磷钼酸铵,用以快速试磷。磷灰石作为副矿物见于各种火成岩中,在碱性岩中可形成有工业价值的矿床,如俄罗斯科拉半岛的希比内磷灰石-霞石矿。规模巨大的磷灰石矿床主要为浅海成因,或由它们再经变质作用形成的沉积变质矿床,以胶磷矿为主。如中国湖北襄阳、云南昆阳、贵州开阳磷矿。由生物化学作用形成的海岛鸟粪层磷矿,主要成分为羟磷灰石,规模也很大。磷灰石是制造磷肥和提取磷及其化合物的最主要矿物原料;含稀土元素时可综合利用;透明而色泽丽润的磷灰石晶体可作低档宝石。磷灰石标本
