阳极效应  熔盐电解时发生在碳质阳极上的特征现象。经常出现于冰晶石(Na3AlF6)-氧化铝电解中,也发生于氯化物电解中。电解质成分不合理或阳极电流密度过高都能导致阳极效应。    产生阳极效应的机理尚未探明,但此现象早已熟知。铝电解时发生阳极效应,显然同阳极表面生成某些化合物和积聚气体有关。    工业铝电解槽里氧化铝含量低于1%时,氟离子和氧离子共同在碳阳极上放电,形成氧氟化合物(COFx),随后和其他吸附化合物一起积聚在阳极表面上。此时,电解质对碳阳极的湿润性变坏,电解质会在更大程度上为阳极所排斥,于是阳极的有效电流密度逐渐增加,达到临界电流密度时,便发生阳极效应。其外观特征是:在阳极周围产生明亮的小火花,气泡停止在阳极析出,电解质也停止沸腾。熔盐和阳极间的电子传递受到阻碍,导致槽电压增高(30~50伏)和电流下降。    在工业铝电解槽上,消除阳极效应的方法通常是将铝液溅泼到阳极上,使阳极和阴极短路;或上下移动阳极,使之与铝液接触。    就铝电解来说,每槽每天平均发生0.5~1次阳极效应被认为是正常的,如果频繁发生将导致过多消耗能量和原材料,并会引起电解槽过热。
