设计教学法设计教学法projectmethod美国进步教育运动中推行的一种教学组织形式与方法。于20世纪初即在美国运用，美国教育家W.H.基尔帕特里克（旧译克伯屈）对此进行了归纳和完整阐述。并在1918年发表的《设计教学法》一书中，详细地论述了设计教学法的理论基础和实施步骤，因而成为此教学法的代表人物。设计教学法要求废除传统的班级授课制，摒弃教科书，不受学科限制，儿童根据自己的兴趣决定学习内容，在自己设计、自己负责实行的单元活动中获得有关知识和解决实际问题的能力。设计的种类可从不同的角度划分：①依照学生的人数，分为个别设计和团体设计。②依照学科的范围，分为单科设计、合科设计（联合几种有关系的科目所进行的学习活动）、大单元设计（打破学科界限，完全以实际问题为中心）。③依照设计的性质，分为实用性项目、能培养审美观点的项目、解决实际问题的项目、掌握知识与技能的项目。知识在设计与完成项目的过程中，成为工具与手段。教师的作用仅在于激发学生的学习动机，帮助学生选择活动所需要的教材。该教学法问世后，对各国的初等教育产生过重要影响，曾于20世纪30年代风行一时，但由于其在教学指导与教材编写上存在种种困难和问题，特别是学生不能获得较系统的科学知识，影响教学质量，因而在30年代以后便逐渐鲜为被采用了。
