季节冻土  冬天含冰冻结、夏天全部融化的岩土。冻土的一类。包括季节冻结层和季节融化层(也称活动层)。    季节冻结层分布于非多年冻土区,在多年冻土南界以南(北半球)或下界(垂直地带)以下的广大地区,以及冻土融区地带。具有明显的纬度及垂直带性,一般说随纬度及海拔的增高,其厚度增大,由0.1~0.2米增厚到2.0~3.0米。在北半球 10月中下旬至 12月,季节冻结层由北而南接连出现,2月下旬至6月初由南往北逐渐消失。中国长江以北各省区都有季节冻土分布,其面积约占中国领土的54%。季节融化层分布在多年冻土地区,下垫着冻土层。由多年冻土的南界往北或下界往上,季节融化土层逐渐变薄,由2.0~3.0米减小到0.1~0.2米。在北半球4月初开始出现季节融化层,至9月底10月初达到最大融化深度。    季节冻结层冬天形成时,随冻结锋面自上而下移动,土中水分向冻结锋面迁移并发生聚冰作用(见冻融时水分迁移),冰层及冰透镜体主要集中在最大冻结深度的2/3~1/2部位。冻结后的土体体积增大,由此产生的冻胀可使各类建筑物产生变形和破坏。季节融化层的冻结有两个方向,一是自地表往下,一是自多年冻土上限往上。由于水分向两个冻结面迁移,因此季节融化层冻结后的聚冰现象及水分的重新分布与季节冻结层不同,在季节融化层上部 1/3处及冻土上限附近冰层和冰透镜体较为集中。(见图)    夏天季节冻结层和季节融化层融化时,由于冰层及冰透镜体分布的不均匀,形成土层不均匀沉降是导致各类建筑物变形和破坏的重要原因。
