低压断路器  用于交流电压1200伏、直流1500伏及以下电压范围的断路器。在正常情况下,用以人为地闭合或断开供电的电路,而在电路发生过载、短路等故障时可自动切断电路。    低压断路器按结构可分为框架式和塑料外壳式两种。框架式断路器所有结构元件都装在同一框架或底板上,可有较多结构变化方式和较多类型脱扣器,一般大容量断路器多采用框架式结构。塑料外壳式断路器所有结构元件都装在一个塑料外壳内,结构紧凑、体积小,一般小容量断路器多采用塑料外壳式结构。    低压断路器按用途可分为:①导线保护用断路器。主要用于照明线路和保护家用电器,额定电流在6~125安范围内;②配电用断路器。在低压配电系统中作过载、短路、欠电压保护之用,也可用作电路的不频繁操作,额定电流一般为200~4000安;③电动机保护用断路器。在不频繁操作场合,用于操作和保护电动机,额定电流一般为 6~63安;④漏电保护断路器。主要用于防止漏电,保护人身安全,额定电流多在63安以下。    低压断路器按性能又可分为普通式和限流式两种。限流式断路器一般具有特殊结构的触头系统,当短路电流通过时,触头在电动力作用下斥开而提前呈现电弧,利用电弧电阻来限制短路电流的增长。限流式断路器比普通断路器有较大的开断能力,并能限制短路电流对被保护线路的电动力和热效应的作用。低压断路器有较强的分断和接通短路电流的能力,额定电流为100安的塑料外壳式断路器,短路通断能力约为12千安,而限流式断路器则可达30千安。
