瘰螈属 有尾目蝾螈科的 1属。体长100～155毫米。头部扁平,犁骨齿列"Ω"形。躯干圆柱状,四肢细弱而长。尾侧扁。皮肤粗糙。头侧有腺质棱脊,背正中有脊棱,背面瘰粒分散均匀，沿体两侧的略大而明显。腹面橘红色斑显著。中国现有3种：中国瘰螈,主要分布在安徽、浙江、福建、广东和广西;尾斑瘰螈(见彩图)，分?加诠笾荻浚阄黢⒎植加诠阄髯匙遄灾吻１臼舳锲芟⒃谥脖幻堋⒒肪吵笔纳角绷鞯幕厮茨诩捌涓浇３Ｒ湓谙谑禄蛳栽硬荽灾幸约氨桓墩诟堑某笔裂ā⑹炷凇Ｒ?鞘翅目的成虫、鳞翅目的幼虫等多种昆虫为食。 中国瘰螈体色棕黑，背脊浅棕红色，腹面色深有橘红色斑，尾腹面橘红，雄螈尾侧无斑。尾斑瘰螈背面有3条土黄色纵纹,腹面色浅有深斑；雄螈尾侧有几个镶黑边的紫红斑；指、趾侧缘膜宽扁；4月产卵于溪流内,贴附在石缝间，有卵63～72粒。卵呈椭圆形。广西瘰螈体背面及两侧全为黑褐色;背嵴强烈隆起;尾扁薄而高；前肢短，前伸指端达眼眶后缘；生活于平缓流溪内，偶发出"哇、哇"叫声，曾发现胃内有蛾类、捕食蚯蚓等。
