夜光虫属夜光虫属Noctiluca原生动物门腰鞭目夜光虫科的一属。又称夜光藻属。体呈球形,两侧对称,具一层厚表膜。口缘标志出身体中线,胞口在口缘基部。有1个自胞口区生出的触手和1根短的纵鞭毛。触手的缓慢运动使虫体在水中旋转并捕获食物,鞭毛细小,能摆动帮助摄食。细胞质当虫体受到外界刺激时,能发出闪光。夜光虫营全动物营养,可吞食浮游动物。繁殖方式为二分裂和复分裂,以出芽方式产生蜂涌子(同形配子)以进行有性生殖。夜光虫是重要的海洋原生动物,世界各大陆沿海均有分布,环境适宜时能大量繁殖,形成赤潮。夜光虫是沿岸低盐种,中国近海数量很多。
