奥贝尔，D.F.E. 法国作曲家。1782年1月29日生于卡昂，1871年5月13日卒于巴黎。早年从I.A.拉迪纳学习钢琴，1800年前曾写有若干器乐作品。1802年去伦敦学习商业。1804年回到巴黎，专心从事音乐创作。他的带小咏叹调的独幕喜歌剧《一时之误》(1805)受到意大利作曲家L.凯鲁比尼的注意,并收他为弟子。他的第1部成功的歌剧是《牧羊的城堡夫人》(1820)。后来他与作家E.斯克里布合作写了许多成功的歌剧。法国皇家音乐协会委托他们写的《波蒂奇的哑女》（1828），开创了法国大歌剧的时代。这是第 1部历史题材（反映1647年那不勒斯渔民反抗西班牙统治的起义）的大歌剧。人物不是古希腊罗马的英雄，而是普通人民，具有传奇性的情节。音乐中运用了民间歌舞的音调和节奏，有许多合唱和群众性的壮丽场面。剧中的女主角是芭蕾舞演员。奥贝尔写了许多形象鲜明的管弦乐段落表现女主角的演出，使这部歌剧具有芭蕾舞的因素。《波蒂奇的哑女》对浪漫派歌剧的进一步发展有很大影响。奥贝尔一生写了40余部歌剧和许多宗教和世俗的声乐作品，也有不少器乐曲。他主要的成就在于他和斯克里布一起创造了新型的喜歌剧，它们题材惊险，情节曲折，富有戏谑性，有时有怪诞色彩；音乐机敏灵活地反映了喜剧情节的急转骤变，旋律清新多样，节奏活泼风趣，充满欢快的生活音调。后人称他为法国19世纪喜歌剧的代表作曲家，并将他与G.迈耶贝尔并列为法国大歌剧的奠基者。
