田鼠田鼠Microtinae;voles啮齿目仓鼠科田鼠亚科的通称。田鼠体型粗笨,多数为小型鼠类,个别达中等,如麝鼠,体长约30厘米,体重约1800克;四肢短,眼小,耳壳略显露于毛外;尾短,一般不超过体长之半,旅鼠、兔尾鼠、鼹形田鼠则甚短,不及后足长,麝鼠的尾因适应游泳,侧扁如舵;毛色差别很大,呈灰黄、沙黄、棕褐、棕灰等色;臼齿齿冠平坦,由许多左右交错的三角形齿环组成。共18属110种,广泛分布于欧洲、亚洲和美洲。中国有11属40余种。栖息环境从寒冷的冻土带直至亚热带。有栖息于草原、农田的田鼠和兔尾鼠;也有栖息于森林的林和林旅鼠;还有栖息于高山的高山;以及适于半水栖的水和麝鼠。某些种类因适应特殊的环境,形态上产生了某些相应的特化。如以地下生活为主的鼹形田鼠,四肢短粗有力,爪发达,门齿粗壮,适于挖掘复杂的洞道,而眼、耳壳则很小;适于水栖的种类,后足趾间具半蹼,尾侧扁,利于游泳。田鼠多为地栖种类,它们挖掘地下通道或在倒木、树根、岩石下的缝隙中做窝。有的白天活动,有的夜间活动,也有的昼夜活动。多数以植物性食物为食,有些种类则吃动物性食物。喜群居。不冬眠。田鼠中的一些种类数量变动很大。旅鼠在数量高时还有迁徙的习性。每年繁殖2~4次,每胎产仔5~14只,寿命约2年。田鼠除个别种类的毛皮可以利用外,绝大多数对农、牧、林业有害,特别是一些群栖性强、数量变动大的种类。另外,田鼠为蜱传斑疹伤寒、兔热病、脑炎等传染病病原的天然携带者,与流行病学很有关系。田鼠
