东亚飞蝗(蚂蚱、蝗虫)分布于华北、华南、华中、华东以及台湾、广西、四川l、云南;在国外见于印度、马来半岛、菲律宾和印度尼西亚。雄成虫体长33.5-40.5毫米,雌为39.5-51.0毫米。身体绿色或黄褐色。复眼后方有较窄的浅色纵条;触角淡黄幻前胸背板的中隆线两侧具不明显的暗色纵条;前翅褐色,具明显的暗色斑纹;后翅土黄色,膜质无地纹;后足股节内侧基半呈黑色,腔节橘红色。由于生活习性不同,被分为散居型和群居型两大类。分布范围横跨我国南北,其世代可年为2-4代。均以卵在土中越冬,翌年孵化出来的若虫,称为蝗埔,经4次脱皮后变为成虫。若虫和成虫主要危害禾本科植物及甘薯、麻类等,为我国主要农业害虫。
