包装机械制造业控制技术的发展新方向今天的机械控制系统看似单一，但其内部却包含了逻辑和运动控制系统、人-机互动系统、诊断系统，甚至人工智能系统。以下来自包装机械制造业的一些实例，将揭示出机械控制系统的发展新方向。和大多数技术一样，机械控制技术在发展过程中，也曾经历曲折。它从历史上简单而庞大的控制系统，发展到今天的小型多功能控制系统，将机械、运动控制和通讯系统有机结合在一起。 最初，在包装领域中所应用的第一代包装机械——DubbedGen1，结构很简单，是纯机械性的。由一台电机带动直线轴转动，并通过凸轮产生动力。采用可编程控制器（PLC）的控制系统，结构也很简单，由操作员直接控制机器。在大部分情况下，还没有采用人-机互动技术（HMI）。之后，出现了第二代包装机械。此技术诞生于十年前，包装机械仍采用传动轴驱动，只是结构更复杂一些，因为由伺服电机来控制速度，所以可以向一些特殊的动作发出指令，而且也采用了更为复杂的PLC可编程逻辑控制器。的确，第二代包装机械的可调性更好，但这一优点却需要付出更高的费用。 这些费用包括更多的线路布置、更多的PLC可编程逻辑控制器输入/输出（I/O）装置，这些装置庞大而复杂，有更多的传感器和程序控制，甚至还包括更多的外围设备；而且对于故障的排除和处理也更加困难。现在的第三代包装机械，融合了所谓的“机械电子”概念，采用伺服系统和简单的机械装置，以达到执行复杂动作的目的。销售商追求的目标是：机器价格更便宜，工作速度更快、性能更好，占地面积小，所以根据需求而不断有新的技术推出也就不足为奇了。 第三代包装机械诞生于4年前，其开发焦点转移到了单箱控制技术，其具有逻辑性的PLC功能和I/O装置，如果需要，还可以配备HMI技术、甚至是以太网和网络通讯服务系统以方便企业间沟通。以前，第二代包装机械需要一个编码器和可编程限位开关（PLS）来确定伺服位置。现在，由于第三代包装机械拥有I/O装置的缘故，伺服控制系统存在于一个处理器内，当伺服系统就位时，就会产生传感动作，并通过总线发出信号，起动任何一个需要的工艺流程。
