锦锦brocade中国传统高级多彩提花丝织物。古代有“织采为文”、“其价如金”之说，故名为锦。有采用重经组织经丝起花的经锦、采用重纬组织的纬锦、双层组织的双层锦等不同品种。它们的织造方法各不相同，生产工艺要求都很高。锦已有3000年以上的历史。战国、西汉以前流行以二色或三色经丝轮流显花的经锦，北朝至初唐出现一种经线分表经、里经，纬线分夹纬和交织纬的斜纹经锦。产生于宋代前后的宋锦开始采用不同花、地组织。典型宋锦以地经、地纬交织成经斜组织，接结经与纹纬交织成纬斜组织。明清时期盛行以挖花回纬为主要显花手段的重纬织物妆花缎。妆花缎的彩纬色彩多达30～40种，锦面的经、纬方向都有逐花异色的效果，是中国古代织锦最高水平的代表。历史上曾用多综多蹑机和束综花楼机织锦。现代生产锦则用纹版提花机。东汉万事如意锦锦以精练染色的桑蚕丝为经纬原料，还常常使用各种金银线。现代也有用人造丝等化学纤维原料的锦。主要作装饰用料：室内装饰如挂屏、台毯、靠垫、床罩、被面等；服饰如领带、腰带，女式棉、夹袄以及少数民族袍服面料。中国的名锦有以经锦为代表的蜀锦、以妆花缎为代表的南京云锦和苏州宋锦。
