昆虫纲昆虫纲Insecta节肢动物门的一纲。体分头、胸、腹3部;头部具触角1对(极少数无触角);胸部3节,每节有足1对;中胸和后胸节可有翅各1对。腹部除末端数节外,附肢多退化或无。生殖孔后位。世界上的昆虫约有100万种,约占动物界种数的80%,每年还约陆续发现0.5~1万新种。中国约12~15万种。昆虫习性歧异,分布范围很广,除海洋的水域之中以外,凡有植物生长的地域都有昆虫。昆虫具有强大的飞翔能力,其微小的身躯又易随气流传播,所以从赤道到两极都有它们的踪迹。昆虫在地球上约出现于3.5亿年前,经历了漫长的演化历程。昆虫纲由C.von林奈于1758年建立,根据翅的有无和性质分为7目。布劳尔1885年根据昆虫变态分目,奠定了近代昆虫纲分目的基础。其后经过许多学者的修订,昆虫目的分类颇为参差,最多的分为34目。昆虫在农业、林业、牧业、仓储物资、建筑材料等方面可造成很大危害,另外也能传播人、畜疾病。昆虫产品可以利用,如蚕丝、蜂蜜、蜂蜡、紫胶、白蜡等;某些昆虫传播花粉,可使植物增产;食虫性和寄生性昆虫可用以防治害虫;某些水栖昆虫是鱼类食饵,也可用作环境污染的指标;某些昆虫可作食品或禽畜饲料;少数药用昆虫可以治疗疾病。
