轮藻特征:轮藻门在细胞构造、光合作用色素和贮存养分上与绿藻门和有胚植物大致相同。与绿藻门的不同点有:(1)有大形的顶细胞,具一定的分裂步骤;(2)有节和节间,节上长轮生的分校;(3)雌雄生殖器官的特殊构造;(4)合子萌发经过原丝体(Protonema)时期。轮藻门仅有卵配生殖。主要为淡水产,极少数为半咸水产。分类及代表植物现代生存的仅1目,轮藻目(Charales),1科,轮藻科(Characeae)7属,钓340种。经济意义生长轮藻植物的水申中没有孑孓生长,藻体熏烟可以驱蚊。古植物学中对轮藻类化石的研究是一个重要的方面,由于不同地质时代的轮藻类的受精卵在形态结构上各有其特点,因此它能帮助地层的签定和陆相石油勘探。
