细菌(化石)xijun(huashi)细菌(化石)bacteria(fossil) 现代细菌分布极广,无处不有。过去,只知中生代、新生代的沉积中, 保存了小球菌 (Micrococci)和杆菌(Bacillus)化石。近10余年,运用透射电子显微镜(TEM)和生物化学技术,已在古生代和前寒武纪的沉积中,发现细菌化石。 美国石炭纪煤系的黄铁矿中,发现了带鞘的球衣细菌和带扭丝的嘉氏铁杆菌化石。苏联寒武纪磷灰岩中,发现了球状和杆状铁细菌化石;泥盆纪铝土矿中,也发现了有丝状群体的铁细菌化石。加拿大东南部安大略,在距今20亿年前的贡福林燧石中,发现伞细菌、星细菌和类似现代的多孢铁细菌及球衣细菌等化石。伞细菌上部形如伞面,中部形如伞顶,下部为一泡状体。这种细菌酷似英国威尔士地区土壤中的一种现代细菌。星细菌出现于澳大利亚西部的达克克里克白云岩中,早已绝灭。10年前,在非洲东南部的无花果树群的燧石中(约31~32亿年前),还发现杆状的原始细菌,说明早在31~32亿年前已有细菌存在。 有时可通过细菌化石的存在去推测当时的沉积环境和大气的成分。例如,现存的一种细菌,可以生活在含有5~10克分子量的氨水里,或含N50%的大气环境中,缺N则不能生存,此种细菌酷似上述的伞细菌,因而,人们可推测出,20亿年前的贡福林燧石时期,原始大气中富含N。                 徐仁
