软锰矿软锰矿pyrolusite锰的氧化物矿物。成分为MnO2。含锰63.2%,是炼锰的重要矿物原料。四方晶系,晶体呈细柱状或针状。集合体常呈块状、肾状或土状,还有的呈树枝状见于岩石裂隙面上。铁黑色,光泽和硬度视其结晶粗细和形态而异;结晶好的呈半金属光泽,硬度较高;而隐晶质块体和粉末状者,光泽暗淡,硬度低,极易污手。比重5左右。是沉积锰矿床的主要成分,在强氧化条件下形成。在中国,广西、湖南、辽宁、四川等地的锰矿床中有大量产出。
