铂铂platinum一种化学元素。化学符号Pt，原子序数78，原子量195.08，属周期系Ⅷ族，为铂系元素的成员。俗称白金。18世纪初英国C.伍德在新格拉纳达的卡塔赫纳采集到嵌有铂粒的砂石。1735年西班牙A.de乌略亚-德拉·托雷·希拉尔在平托附近的金矿发现一块难以加工的金属，很像银，便取名为platinum，该字来自西班牙文platina，含义是银。1748年英国沃森确认这是一种新元素。铂在地壳中的含量为5×10-7％，常与其他铂系元素一起分散在冲积矿床和砂积矿床的多种矿物（如原铂矿、硫化镍铜矿、磁铁矿等）中。独立矿物有砷铂矿、硫铂矿、锑铂矿、硫铂钯矿、硫镍钯铂矿等。还有以游离状态存在的自然铂。铂是银白色有光泽的金属，熔点1772℃，沸点3827±100℃，密度21.45克／厘米3（20℃），较软，有良好的延展性、导热性和导电性。海绵铂为灰色海绵状物质，有很大的比表面积，对气体（特别是氢、氧和一氧化碳）有较强的吸收能力。粉末状的铂黑能吸收大量氢气。铂的化学性质不活泼，在空气和潮湿环境中稳定，低于450℃加热时，表面形成二氧化铂薄膜，高温下能与硫、磷、卤素发生反应。铂不溶于盐酸、硫酸、硝酸和碱溶液，但可溶于王水和熔融的碱。铂的氧化态为＋2、＋3、＋4、＋5、＋6。容易形成配位化合物，如〔Pt（NH3）2〕Cl2、K〔Pt（NH3）Cl5〕。用王水溶解经过处理的铂精矿或电解铜、镍产生的阳极泥，经一系列化学处理后，可得氯铂酸铵，将它在1000℃缓慢灼烧，便分解制得海绵铂。铂在氢化、脱氢、异构化、环化、脱水、脱卤、氧化、裂解等化学反应以及接触法生产硫酸、氨氧化法制取硝酸、氨和甲烷制取氢氰酸、制备环己烷、生产维生素时都用作催化剂。用铂催化剂重整石脑油，可提高汽油产品的辛烷值。铂及其合金在高温下耐氧化和腐蚀，用于制作坩埚、蒸发皿、电极、喷嘴、反应器等。铂和铂铑合金在冶金、玻璃、陶瓷工业中用作高温炉的炉丝和热电偶。铂还用于制作首饰。
