偶氮苯偶氮苯azobenzene偶氮基─NN─的两个单键各与一个苯环相连接而生成的化合物。分子式C6H5NNC6H5偶氮苯有顺、反两种几何异构体(见几何异构),反式异构体比顺式的稳定,是主要存在形式。两种异构体均为橘红色晶体。顺式异构体的熔点71℃;反式异构体的熔点68.5℃,沸点293℃,相对密度1.203(20/4℃)。微溶于水,溶于乙醇、乙醚、苯等。偶氮苯主要由硝基苯在锌粉或铁粉和氢氧化钠的作用下还原制得;以氢化铝锂作还原剂,也可将硝基苯还原为偶氮苯。偶氮苯有毒,对肝、肾有损害。将偶氮苯溶于橄榄油,对大白鼠皮下注射后发现引起癌症,因此被认为是致癌物质。
