卡宾卡宾carbene碳原子上只有两个价键连有基团，还剩两个未成键电子的高活性中间体。一般以R2C∶表示。又称碳烯。卡宾的寿命远低于1秒，只能在低温下（77K以下）捕集，在晶格中加以分离和观察。它的存在已被大量实验所证明。卡宾的两个未成键电子既能自旋方向相反，处于单线态；也可自旋方向平行，处于三线态。取哪种状态应视取代基和制备方法而异。下式为H2C∶的两种状态：卡宾的单、三线态在构型上均有些畸变，上述构型理论只是近似的。制备卡宾的方法主要有两种：①卤代烷的a-消除反应，即在同一碳原子上失去两个电子：图片图片②偶氮化合物在加热或光照（hv）下脱氮：卡宾十分活泼，可以发生插入、加成、二聚化和重排等反应。例如，卡宾可以插入烷烃的C—H键之间，使碳链增长或支化：卡宾的反应活性很高，但选择性低。卡宾对烯烃的加成反应可用来制备用一般方法难以合成的环丙烷衍生物等。
