三聚【三聚】 (名数)以三聚该收一切众生也。一、正定聚,必定证悟者。二、邪定聚,毕竟不证悟者。三、不定聚,在二者中间有缘证悟,无缘不证悟也。此三聚之义通于大小乘,小乘之俱舍论十曰:“正邪不定聚圣造无间余。”预流向已上之圣者为正定聚,造五无间业者为邪定聚,在此二者中间修七方便之行者为不定聚。大乘之三聚有多义,智度论八十四曰:“能破颠倒者名正定,必不能破颠倒者是邪定,得因缘能破不得则不能破是名不定。”是通相说三聚,未判其位也。依起信论之所说,则十信已前之凡夫不信因果,为邪定,十住已上为正定,十信之人为不定性。此为实大乘之义。权大乘之相宗,则依智度论之说意,不因位而制之,依彼宗所立之五性而立之。即无种性之人为邪定,不定种性之人为不定性,菩萨定性之人为正定。又依释摩诃衍论之一说,则十圣为正定聚,三贤为不定聚,自余之凡夫为邪定聚。是亦权大乘之意也。圭峰之起信笔削记三曰:“权教以无种性人为邪,以菩萨为正,以不定性人为不定。终教以一切异性为邪,三贤为正,十信为不定。”探玄记三曰:“若依地论,见道已上,方名正道。”
