钒钒vanadium一种化学元素。化学符号V,原子序数23,原子量50.9415,属周期系ⅤB族。1801年西班牙A.M.del里奥在分析墨西哥锡马潘的铅矿时发现一种新元素,由于它与酸加热时显红色,便命名为erythronium,含义是“赤元素”。1830年瑞典N.G.塞夫斯特穆用泰贝格附近的铁矿炼铁时,发现矿石、锻铁和炉渣中都含有一种新元素,并以斯堪的纳维亚女神Vanadis将其命名为vanadium。同年,德意志F.维勒发现它与erythronium属于同一种元素。1927年美国J.W.马登和M.N.里奇在900~950℃时将五氧化二钒、金属钙和氯化钙的混合物加热,制得纯度为99.7%的金属钒。钒在地壳中的含量为0.02%~0.03%,钒的矿物主要有绿硫钒矿(V2S+nS)、钒云母〔K2(Mg,Fe)(Al,V)4Si12O32·4H2O〕、钒铅矿〔PbCl2·3Pb3(VO4)2〕、钒钾铀矿(K2O·2V2O3·V2O5·3H2O)。钒还存在于铁矿和铝矿中。钒是淡灰色有光泽金属,熔点1890±10℃,沸点3380℃,密度5.96克/厘米3。有韧性,在氢气中加热变脆,含氧和氮的钒也有脆性。室温时,钒不与氧作用,加热下被氧化为VO、V2O3、VO2、V2O5。高温下与多数非金属元素(如氮、碳、硫)发生反应。钒还能与铝、钴、铜、铁、锰、钼、镍、钯、锡、硅形成合金。钒不与稀盐酸、稀硫酸和碱溶液作用,但易溶于浓硫酸、浓硝酸和氢氟酸。钒与熔融的碱作用后,生成钒酸盐。钒的氧化态为-1、+1、+2、+3、+4、+5。通常+2和+3价钒的氢氧化物呈碱性,+4和+5价钒的氢氧化物呈两性。+5价钒在不同酸度的水溶液中形成不同组成的钒酸盐。钒矿的分解方法有:①酸法。用硫酸或盐酸处理,得(VO2)2SO4或VO2Cl。②碱法。用氢氧化钠或碳酸钠与矿石熔融,得NaVO3或Na3VO4。③氯化物焙烧法。食盐和矿石一起焙烧,得NaVO3。金属钒制法可用碳、硅、铝还原五氧化二钒,或用金属钠、镁还原四氯化钒。钒主要用于制造合金钢,可提高钢的强度,用作结构钢、弹簧钢、工具钢、装甲钢和钢轨。
