聚砜  [—SO2—R—]n 主链上含有砜基(—SO2—)的一种热塑性树脂,若其中R为芳基,则称聚芳砜,主链中含有醚键的聚砜,又称聚醚砜。聚芳砜和聚醚砜是良好的工程塑料,具有优良力学性能、抗蠕变性、硬度和耐磨性,并具有较高的玻璃化转变温度,可在150~200℃的温度范围内长期使用。它有优良的耐化学腐蚀性,对酸、碱、盐类等都较稳定,但在酮类、酯类及齿代烃等极性溶剂的作用下易发生应力开裂。聚芳砜和聚醚砜适于模压或注射成型加工,可制作电性能优良的电子器件和印刷电路基材,还可作汽车中的特殊零部件和需耐温180℃的自动传动装置等。1965年美国联合碳化物公司首先以双酚A和4,4′- 二氯二苯砜为原料经缩聚生产聚砜。工业上生产聚砜的主要方法是使卤代芳砜与酚盐反应。常用的卤代芳砜为4,4′- 二氯二苯砜,芳酚盐为双酚A的钾盐或钠盐。这一方法反应条件较温和,生产成本较低,利于工业生产。
