伊利石 理想化学组成为K0.75(Al1.75R匳)[Si3.5Al0.5O10](OH)2、晶体主要属单斜晶系的含水层状结构硅酸盐矿物。式中R2+代表二价金属阳离子,主要为Mg2+、Fe2+等。晶体结构与白云母的基本相同,也属于2:1型结构单元层的二八面体型。晶体有1M、2M、1Md和 3T等多型变体。与白云母不同的是,层间K+的数量比白云母少,而且有水分子存在。因此伊利石也称为水白云母。还有人把它作为水云母的同义词。伊利石常呈极细小的鳞片状晶体,透射电子显微镜下呈不规则的或带棱角的薄片状,有时也呈不完整的六边形和板条状形态,通常呈土状集合体产出。纯的伊利石粘土呈白色,但常因杂质而染成黄、绿、褐等色。底面解理完全。摩斯硬度1~2。比重2.6~2.9。伊利石是常见的一种粘土矿物,常由白云母、钾长石风化而成,并产于泥质岩中,或由其他矿物蚀变形成。它常是形成其他粘土矿物的中间过渡性矿物。伊利石粘土可以作为新型陶瓷原料,作耐高温汽缸的助熔剂和在核废料处理上吸附铯以防辐射,并可以作化妆品或塑料的填料。纯的白色伊利石也可以代替高岭石作为造纸涂层,还能用来生产汽车外壳的喷镀材料及电焊条。
