嫩江嫩江松花江最大支流。位于中国黑龙江省中部。源出大兴安岭北麓伊勒呼里山,南流到镇赉县,经吉林省大安市在三岔河汇入松花江。长1370千米,流域面积28.3万平方千米。支流主要有甘河、讷谟尔河、诺敏河、绰尔河、洮儿河等。干支流上游流经森林覆盖的山区,植被良好,水土流失较轻,含沙量很小。中下游穿过松嫩平原,中间经洪积台地,坡陡流急,河流侵蚀力强,成为松花江泥沙重要源地。下游为吉、黑两省界河,河道坡度甚小,河流蛇行,水流速度缓慢,河宽达400~1000米,流路多呈网状,江中沙洲、岛屿众多。沿江湿地沼泽广布,湖泡相连。吉林省江岸,在大赉以上为台地,多为高达10米以上的陡崖,构成天然堤防;大赉以下完全由堤防控制。洪水期江面宽1~2千米,水深8~13米。每年11月中旬河流结冰,11月下旬封冻,翌年4月初解冻,4月中旬终冰,结冰期160天左右。嫩江县以下可通航。
