体细胞遗传学体细胞遗传学somaticcellgenetics以高等生物的体细胞为实验材料，采用细胞离体培养、细胞融合和遗传物质在细胞间转移等方法，研究真核细胞的基因结构功能及其表达规律等的遗传学分支学科。它可为植物育种提供新的方法，并且是人类遗传性疾病基因治疗的理论基础。应用细胞融合、染色体鉴定、生化鉴定、免疫学鉴定等技术，已经建立了许多种基因定位方法，使人的基因定位的研究取得了快速的进展。研究肿瘤细胞融合形成的杂种细胞的致瘤性的变化可以为了解正常细胞的癌化和肿瘤细胞的逆转提供重要的线索。体细胞遗传学方法还可应用于肿瘤（例如着色性干皮病）发生机理的研究。另外，体细胞培养的方法还可应用于人类遗传性疾病的预防。体细胞遗传学原理在育种工作中的应用目前还只限于植物。通过诱变处理还曾从玉米的体细胞中选得抗长蠕孢霉的细胞株并育成抗性品系。通过原生质体融合还可以获得难以通过有性杂交取得的远缘杂交品系。
