关东大地震关东大地震GreatKantōEarthquakeof19231923年9月1日,日本的横滨和东京一带发生的地震灾。这一带在日本称为关东地区,故此震习惯上被称为关东大地震。震中在附近的相模湾内,在东京的西南方约70~80千米,震级为8.2(日本所定震级,最高为7.9,最低为7.8)。据日本政府发表的数字,死亡和失踪的人数共计14万余人,其中东京的4万余人是被大火包围因烘烤或窒息而死。震后的三角测量表明,相模湾以北和东边的房总半岛的地面有较大的向东南的水平位移。对相模湾海底的测量则表明相模湾中部的海底下沉了100~200米,有的小区竟下沉了400米,而在主要的下沉区以北发现一处海底上升了250米。这表明这次地震导致了海底地形的大变动。日本南部海域处于菲律宾海板块与日本列岛的邻接部位,这里的板块消减运动方向与上述海底地形变动是相符合的。
