剑桥大学图书馆 英国综合性研究图书馆,创建于1424年。当时只有76卷捐赠的图书。16世纪宗教改革运动之前一直由大学的牧师会兼管,到1577年才专门聘任了图书馆员和馆长。早期的馆藏几乎完全靠捐赠或遗赠。1617年开始采购,1662年开始收藏出版商呈缴的样本。1709年英国颁布版权法，正式规定凡本国出版的图书都要免费缴送该馆，从而使馆藏迅速增加。1715年英王乔治一世将多年搜集的3 万卷书全部赠送该馆。由于馆藏日益丰富，该馆在18～19世纪曾起到国家文献贮存中心的作用。鉴于学校教学和研究的需要,该馆除注重资料收集的平衡发展外,重点收藏人文科学，其次是法律、科学与技术方面的文献。现在的馆舍建于1934年。1982 年有图书360多万册，现刊4万多种，善本特藏4000多卷，地图9万多幅，以及大量缩微胶卷和平片等。著名的特藏有以历史书为主的艾克顿文库 (约6万卷)、英王乔治一世赠予的皇家图书馆文库 (3万卷)、查理·达尔文收藏的图书及其笔记等手稿、英国著名学者如鲍德温、克鲁、哈定等人的论著、手稿和该大学的学位论文等。 该馆不仅为本校学生和研究人员、教学人员服务,也为议会的议员服务。服务方式有馆内阅览、外借(包括馆际互借、国际互借)、打字服务、缩微和静电复制服务等。总馆下设有科技期刊图书馆、医学图书馆和法律图书馆。此外，剑桥大学的各系和各学院都分别设有为本系和本学院学生服务的专业图书馆。其他系或学院的学生如使用这些图书馆需先提出申请或通过馆际互借。
