宗白华宗白华（1897～1986）中国美学家。江苏常熟人。1918年毕业于上海同济大学语言科。1920～1925年留学德国，先后在法兰克福大学和柏林大学学习哲学和美学。回国后曾任东南大学哲学系教授、中央大学哲学系教授。1949～1952年任南京大学教授。之后一直任北京大学哲学系教授。现兼中华全国美学学会顾问。他把中国艺术精神的重要特色之一归结为“充实”与“空灵”、有限与无限的统一。宗白华对中国魏晋玄学中的美学思想给予了特殊的注意，认为其中包含有积极的东西。他还着重论述了中国艺术中的意境和空间意识问题，认为中国艺术中的空间表现了人与悠久无限的大自然生命的亲切统一，是一种节奏化、音乐化了的时空合一的空间；这种空间意识是以道家和《周易》的宇宙观为哲学基础的。著有《美学散步》。译著有I.康德的《判断力批判》、《欧洲现代画派画论选》。卒于1986年12月20日。
