测向仪与指向标 近程和中程海上导航用的无线电测向设备。最早的测向仪出现于20年代。在船上装备测向仪，沿海岸配置指向标，即无线电信标。国际航海组织规定，1600吨位以上的所有船只都必须装备无线电测向设备。船上测向仪不仅用于对岸上的信标进行测向，也用于对遇难呼救船只测向。国际规定的呼救频率是500赫和2182千赫。 指向标 沿海无线电信标工作于275～335千赫频段。工作距离较远的信标在相同频率上工作时，按时序发射，以防止相互干扰。船上测向仪可对岸上2～3个信标台顺次测向,测得位置线的交点就是船位。船行速度较慢,因而可采用这种方法定位；飞机速度太快，不宜采用此法。所有的岸上信标台都使用固定频率、固定识别信号（莫尔斯码），可间歇发射，在间断期间发射识别信号。在岸上也可对船舶测向，岸上分设几处测向台，同时对船上发射的信号测向，也可测得航行船位。船上不需要专设发射台，而是利用一般通信信号。 测向仪 船上测向仪(图1)一直是重要的导航设备。所用天线系统都是环形天线，或是旋转式的，或是固定式的。船体结构不对称，不适宜装置任何无极化误差的天线。现代船用测向仪一般可覆盖250～550千赫和1600～3800千赫的频率范围。这种测向仪对地波传播的信号测向比较准确；对电离层反射的电磁波测向，方位不准确也不稳定。因此，船上测向仪测向达到的距离仅在100海里左右,一般是白天的有效距离大，夜间的有效距离小，这称为夜间效应。小船通常使用人工旋转天线，有时带有铁氧体铁芯。大船一般使用两个相互垂直的屏蔽环组成的贝利尼-托西天线（图2）；有时，也用一个垂直的辨向天线作为组合的一部分。天线的一环沿纵轴安装，另一环垂直于纵轴。现代测向仪都配有自动显示方位的装置，有些可由伺服系统带动测角器找到听觉零点，有些用R.A.沃森-瓦特提出的双路放大器在阴极射线管上显示方位。 测向仪测出可靠方位的距离较小，主要限于沿海水域。有些繁忙水道使用数个在同频率上按时分方式工作的测向仪，识别信号各不相同，用户顺次测方位并标在图上。近海船用测向系统测向准确度约为±3°。
