《说文声类》 利用谐声研究古韵的专书。清代严可均(1762～1843)著。 本书把古韵分为16部，即：一之、二支、三脂、四歌、五鱼、六侯、七幽、八霄、九蒸、十耕、十一真、十二元、十三阳、十四东、十五侵、十六谈，把《说文》所收正篆和重文全部分列在16部之中。编排体例是先标出古韵，在古韵下标出相应的《广韵》韵目，并指出与本部对转的古韵部。以之部为例。"之类第一：《广韵》平声之咍，上声止海，去声志代，入声职德，古音合为一类。与蒸类对转。"然后以谐声偏旁为子目，把同一谐声偏旁的字排列在一起，列出这一部所属的字。如从"之"得声，列有"芝"、"寺"等字，从"司"得声，列有"祠"、"嗣"、"笥"等字。今本《说文》缺漏的字，字外加"□"号做标记，并说明增补根据。例如："，今《说文》无此字。《文选》阮籍《咏怀诗》注，《古诗十九首》注引有之"。作者认为古音应当在这一部而今音转入另一部的，字外加"○"号做标记。例如："，读若纠。入霄类"。各韵部末尾标出该部的字数。 在严氏此书之前，戴震在《答段若膺论韵》中曾经提出过编写这一类书的设想，但未能实现。后来有好几个人编写这一类书，《说文声类》是比较好的一部。严可均在自序中说："夫而后，群经有韵之文皆可读，古人假借之法无不包矣。"虽然有些夸大，但此书对查检或观察谐声与古韵的关系确实提供了很大方便。
