四部书目分类体系 中国古代书目分类体系。即分经、史、子、集四大部类，经部主要收录儒家经典及其传、释和文字学方面的著作，史部主要收录历史以及地理、时令、政书、目录等方面的著作，子部主要收录哲学、军事、天文、算法、医学、农业、艺术、工商等方面的著作，集部主要收录总集、别集及其他文学方面的著作。中国古代藏书多以四部法排列,每部为一库,故四部分类体系又称"四库法"。 西晋初，秘书监荀勖与中书令张华整理典籍，编成《中经新簿》，分甲、乙、丙、丁四部，创立四部书目分类体系。甲部记六艺及小学，乙部有古诸子家、近世子家、兵书、兵家、术数，丙部有史记、皇览簿、杂事，丁部有诗赋、图赞、汲冢书。荀勖所创四部法适应了《七 略》后三百年间的学术变迁、各类图书数量的增减和图书庋藏的方便。东晋李充《晋元帝四部书目》依荀勖的四部书目分类体系，并改史书为乙部，诸子为丙部，从而正式确立了四部排列顺序。此后各代宫廷藏书目录均以此类分图书，被史学家称为"秘阁之永制"。至唐初贞观年间，魏徵等编撰《隋书·经籍志》，始将甲、乙、丙、丁四部名称换成经、史、子、集。《隋书·经籍志》吸收王俭、阮孝绪七分法的优点，使四部分类法成为更为完善、更加切合实际的书目分类体系。唐代以后，各家目录对四部分类体系略作增益调整，大体趋向更为细密合理。清代乾隆年间纪昀等所撰《四库全书总目》的书目分类体系，是四部书目分类体系的总结。纪昀等分析了历代书目分类体系的特点和流变，择善而从。《四库全书总目》将1万余部17万余卷图书分为 4部44类(见《四库全书总目》)。 四部书目分类体系是以儒家思想为指导的中国封建社会书目分类的主要方法。随着社会的进步，科学文化的发展，图书类型和数量的变化，四部书目分类体系已不再适应于类分现代图书的需要，鸦片战争以后逐步被新的书目分类体系所取代。但它对今天人们整理和利用中国古籍仍具有一定的实用价值。
