普通车床  能对轴、盘、环等多种类型工件进行多种工序加工的卧式车床。普通车床常用于加工工件的内外回转表面、端面和各种内外螺纹,采用相应的刀具和附件,还可进行钻孔、扩孔、攻丝和滚花等。普通车床(见图)的工艺范围较广,机床主轴转速和进给量的调整范围较大,加工前的工艺准备和调整工作量较少;但自动化程度较低,工件的加工精度在一定程度上取决于工人的操作水平,适用于单件、小批生产和修配车间。    主轴由电动机经主轴箱带动旋转,工件装在主轴卡盘中或支承在顶尖间并随主轴旋转,旋转运动经进给箱、丝杠或光杠传至溜板箱,转变为刀架的进给运动。丝杠是为车削螺纹时使刀架获得精确的移动量而设置的。普通车床具有交换齿轮和螺纹种类变换机构,适当选择传动比可加工出公制、英制、模数和径节螺纹。方刀架可作纵、横向进给,能同时安装 4把刀具,可按需要选用。尾座的功用是用后顶尖支承轴类工件,或用以安装孔加工刀具。有些车床还在溜板箱上装有辅助电动机,专供刀架作纵横向快速移动用。此外,普通车床还有一些变型,如:①马鞍车床:床身在卡盘下有一段可装卸的导轨(形如马鞍),卸下后可扩大工件回转直径。②精密车床:结构与普通车床相同,但具有较高的加工精度。③无丝杠车床:没有丝杠,不能加工螺纹,主轴转速范围较小,但转速较高,并且大部分加大了功率,故生产效率较高。④卡盘车床:没有尾座,床身较短,适用于成批生产中加工盘、套类工件。
