图书馆学期刊　　图书馆学专业期刊最早于19世纪上半叶出现于欧洲，如1834年创刊的法国《藏书家通报》、1840年创刊的德国《图书馆杂志》等。随着近代图书馆学的确立，图书馆学期刊开始在更多的国家出版，如1876年创刊的美国《图书馆杂志》、1888年创刊的意大利《图书馆杂志》、1889年创刊的英国《图书馆》等，这些期刊大部分迄今仍在继续出版。　　　　早期的图书馆专业杂志以通报馆藏，介绍工作方法，交流业务经验，评述书刊作为主要内容。20世纪以后随着图书馆活动领域的扩大和专业图书馆的兴起，图书馆工作内容日益丰富，图书馆学研究不断发展，图书馆学期刊发生了很大的变化：①数量急剧增长，到20世纪30年代, 西方主要国家的图书馆学期刊已达650种;②内容趋向专门化，深入到图书馆学各专门领域，如《法律图书馆杂志》(1908年创刊)、《专门图书馆》 (1910年创刊)、《编目与分类季刊》(1980年创刊)等;③出现了有关图书馆学教育与研究方面的期刊；④反映现代技术应用的刊物大量涌现,如《情报检索和图书馆自动化》(1965年创刊)、《程序：自动化图书馆和情报系统》(1966年创刊)、《情报和图像管理杂志》 (1967年创刊)等；⑤出版了一些报道图书馆学专业文献信息的检索刊物，例如《图书馆学文献索引》(1934年创刊)、《图书馆学情报学文摘》(1950年创刊)等等。　　　　中国最早的图书馆学专业期刊是1915年创刊的《浙江公立图书馆年报》。截至1949年共出版了50多种图书馆学期刊，其中主要有：《图书馆学季刊》、《中华图书馆协会会报》、《文华图书馆学专科学校季刊》、《北平图书馆馆刊》等。中华人民共和国建立后至80年代末，全国共出版了上百种图书馆学期刊，其中较有影响的有《中国图书馆学报》、《图书情报工作》、《大学图书馆学报》、《图书馆学研究》、《图书情报知识》、《图书馆杂志》等 (见表)。
