经向构造体系  走向大体上与地球经度线一致的构造体系。也称经向构造带或南北向构造带,是全球性的构造体系的主要类型之一。经向构造体系有两种力学性质不同的类型,一类为挤压性的,另一类为张裂性的。有时也显示出有压扭或张扭的迹象。    在中国境内,经向构造体系主要表现为走向南北的挤压带,由单式或复式褶皱构成,同时有扭性断裂与它斜交,张性断裂与它正交。走向南北的强烈褶皱带群在中国西南部及南部颇为发育。其中最显著的是集中出现于东经102°~103°30′之间,以中国四川西部的大雪山为主体一直延伸到云南中部的川滇南北构造带。这是一个以元古宙岩层为核部的巨型复背斜带,东西两侧为小江断裂和元谋-元江断裂。小江断裂为二叠纪峨嵋玄武岩的喷发通道,又控制了基性-超基性岩和酸性岩体的分布。元谋-元江断裂带为一构造岩浆杂岩带,动力变质作用明显。川滇南北构造带至少从古生代开始发育,到中三叠世末基本形成,侏罗纪以后至近代都有强烈活动。这一带往南可延至泰国以至马来半岛,可能部分与青藏滇缅印尼歹字型构造中段复合。在中国其他一些地方,也有一些分散的不太强烈的南北向褶皱带与其他构造体系复合,如贺兰山、吕梁山南段、太行山南段、台湾山脉等,都有走向南北的褶皱带存在。    在地球上其他地区,也存在着巨大的经向构造体系。例如乌拉尔构造带、萨哈林岛-伊豆海沟构造带、安第斯构造带,它们也是挤压性的或扭压性的。还有一些大体上南北向伸展的大断裂,如东非裂谷、死海-约旦河谷以及欧洲西部的隆河河谷、莱茵河谷,则是张裂性的经向构造体系的例子。在海洋方面,南大西洋海岭主要是南北向的,东印度洋海岭也是南北向的。    经向构造体系的起源可能与地球自转速度变更有关。由于地球的角速度变大,大陆的各部分及其基底不是处处以同一步调跟地球由西向东加快它们的速度,那么落后的陆块遇到西面的阻挡就会发生强烈的东西向挤压而形成南北向的挤压构造带,跟不上地球自转速度变更的陆块就会被拉开而发生张裂性的破裂,因此产生像东非那样的大陆裂谷。
