晶质铀矿  理想的化学成分为 UO2、晶体属等轴晶系的氧化物矿物。天然矿物中总有部分U4+氧化为U 6+,故化学式实际为(U嚀U宲)O2+x,x 值最大可达0.6。富含U6+的土状变种称为铀黑。钍、钇、铈等稀土元素可类质同象替代铀,含量高的分别称为钍铀矿或钇铀矿。晶质铀矿具强放射性,化学成分中总是含有少量的铅、镭和氦,其中铅和氦是铀、钍放射性蜕变的最终稳定产物。镭和地球上的氦都首先是在晶质铀矿中发现的。根据铅铀比和氦铀比可以测定矿物的地质年龄。晶质铀矿具萤石型结构,晶形以立方体或八面体为主,但少见;一般成细粒状产出。黑色,条痕棕黑色。半金属光泽,风化面光泽暗淡。贝壳状断口。摩斯硬度约5.5。比重7.5~10.0。氧化程度深的,颜色趋于暗棕,比重明显偏小。呈致密块状、葡萄状等胶体形态,并具有沥青光泽的隐晶质变种称为沥青铀矿。晶质铀矿主要产于高温热液脉中。产于中-低温热液脉中的,特征性地总是沥青铀矿,一般不含钍和稀土元素;呈良好自形晶体产于伟晶岩中的晶质轴矿,则钍和稀土元素含量较高,但一般不形成有工业价值的矿床。晶质铀矿常蚀变或风化淋滤而形成颜色鲜艳的脂铅铀矿或钙铀云母、铜铀云母等铀的次生矿物,可作找矿标志。晶质铀矿,特别是其变种沥青铀矿,是铀的最重要矿石矿物。此外,晶质铀矿还用于提取镭。加拿大、美国、南非、扎伊尔等是最主要的铀矿生产国。
