晶质铀矿 理想的化学成分为 UO2、晶体属等轴晶系的氧化物矿物。天然矿物中总有部分U4+氧化为U 6+,故化学式实际为(U嚀U宲)O2+x，x 值最大可达0.6。富含U6+的土状变种称为铀黑。钍、钇、铈等稀土元素可类质同象替代铀，含量高的分别称为钍铀矿或钇铀矿。晶质铀矿具强放射性，化学成分中总是含有少量的铅、镭和氦，其中铅和氦是铀、钍放射性蜕变的最终稳定产物。镭和地球上的氦都首先是在晶质铀矿中发现的。根据铅铀比和氦铀比可以测定矿物的地质年龄。晶质铀矿具萤石型结构，晶形以立方体或八面体为主，但少见；一般成细粒状产出。黑色，条痕棕黑色。半金属光泽，风化面光泽暗淡。贝壳状断口。摩斯硬度约5.5。比重7.5～10.0。氧化程度深的,颜色趋于暗棕,比重明显偏小。呈致密块状、葡萄状等胶体形态，并具有沥青光泽的隐晶质变种称为沥青铀矿。晶质铀矿主要产于高温热液脉中。产于中－低温热液脉中的,特征性地总是沥青铀矿,一般不含钍和稀土元素；呈良好自形晶体产于伟晶岩中的晶质轴矿，则钍和稀土元素含量较高，但一般不形成有工业价值的矿床。晶质铀矿常蚀变或风化淋滤而形成颜色鲜艳的脂铅铀矿或钙铀云母、铜铀云母等铀的次生矿物，可作找矿标志。晶质铀矿，特别是其变种沥青铀矿，是铀的最重要矿石矿物。此外，晶质铀矿还用于提取镭。加拿大、美国、南非、扎伊尔等是最主要的铀矿生产国。
