拟步甲科 鞘翅目扁甲总科的1科。体壁坚硬,多为暗色；跗5-5-4节；前足基节窝封闭,爪简单的甲虫。已知约1300属15000种，中国记载300余种，分属于27族、80属，世界性分布。 本科以在仓库中生活、为害的种类较为重要，面粉厂与粮仓中常见的有赤拟谷盗、黑菌虫、黄粉虫、黑粉虫等；琵琶甲属、沙潜属和分布于热带与亚热带地区的土潜属，都是农业的重要害虫。大粉虫、树潜两属的种类钻蛀枯木，杂食性的拟谷盗属与粉盗属的某些种类与食菌类的二带黑菌虫亦生活在树皮下。 小到大型种类，形状各异，有椭圆形、卵圆形，有的身体后部膨大似琵琶形；有的生活在树皮下，身体很扁。体表面光滑，荒漠地区的种类则密生长毛，多黑色，亦有褐色的，有些种类鞘翅上有斑纹。口器发达、上颚较大。触角11节，少数10节，棒状、线状或念珠状。复眼突出，前缘凹。鞘翅覆盖腹部。足粗，有的较长，某些种类具棘或齿（见图）。幼虫体细长，背面骨化强，褐色与黑色，部分为乳白色。足4节，末端有跗爪。 本科昆虫多夜间活动，有伪死性，一部分生活在朽木中。后翅一般退化，少数种类可以飞翔，亦有客居于蚁巢的。 中国已记载的族有：背明甲族(Epitraqini)，掘甲族(Lachnogyini)，鳖甲族(Tentyriini)，龙甲族(Lep-todini)，幽甲族(Zopherini)，大头甲族(Stenosini)，砚甲族(Akidini)，漠王族(Platyopini)，漠甲族（Pi-meliini）， 琵琶甲族(Blaptini)，刺甲族(Platyste-lini)，扁足甲族(Pedinini)，沙潜族 (Opatrini)，短角甲族(Trachyscelini)，孔雀甲族(Phaleriini),隐甲族(Gypticini),菌甲族(Diaperini)，瓢形甲族（Leio-chrini），谷盗族(Ulomini)，片甲族 (Cossyphini)，粉虫族(Tenebrionini)，垫甲族 (Heterotarsini)，轴甲族（Cnodalonini），隐力甲族 (Adeliini)，海洛甲族 (Helopini) ，垂头甲族 (Amarygmini) ，树潜甲族(Strongyliini)。 参考书目 赵养昌:《中国经济昆虫志》,第4册,科学出版社，北京，1963。
