达斡尔语 属阿尔泰语系蒙古语族。主要分布在中国内蒙古自治区呼伦贝尔盟境内和黑龙江省齐齐哈尔附近沿嫩江及其支流一带。新疆维吾尔自治区塔城县也有一些人使用这种语言。使用人口约 9万(1982)。分布特哈和齐齐哈尔两个土语。语音方面，有 6个短元音：a、媅、o、u、i、e及与之相配的 6个长元音和主要出现在借词中的ｙ和舌尖元音。有8个复元音：ai、oi、媅i、ui、au、媅u、ya、ye。元音和谐不严整。辅音有23个：b、p、m、w 、f、 d、t、 s、n、l、r、d墭、堮、惼、墭、扵、掵、∫、j、ɡ、k、ⅹ、嬜。 在此基础上形成的腭化辅音、唇化辅音、复辅音数目很多，但出现频率不高。语法方面，复数第一人称代词有排除式ba:和包括式bed的区别，并且保存着两套完整的变格形式。有与指示代词相区别的第三人称代词i:n（单数）和a:n（复数）。有加在作谓语的动词或作表语的名词后面的与代词形式相对应的第一、二人称附加成分： -bi:(-m媅i/-w媅i)"我"、-ba:(-wa:)"我们"、 -da:"咱们"、-∫i:(-∫)"你"、-ta:(-to:)"你们"。词汇方面，以和蒙古语族语言同源的词为主，历史上吸收过一些满语词，近代和现代吸收了大量汉语借词。词汇中反映渔业、狩猎、畜牧和农业的词语很丰富。
