《师说》 中国古代重要的教育论著。唐代韩愈作,大约写于贞元十八年 (802)。唐代中期,封建文化思想有了新发展,以复兴儒学为内容和采用散体文为形式的古文运动达到高潮。此时的教育,需要强调求师问道的重要,矫正轻视教师的风气。《师说》就是韩愈为阐明这种见解而写的。他因此而被人骂为狂人。但他不顾庸人反对,坚持其观点,得到有识之士的支持,终于冲破旧思想,转变了社会风气。《师说》认为"人非生而知之者,孰能无惑?"人们要学习必定需要有教师。教师的基本任务有三:"传道、 授业、 解惑",其中传道是最主要的。作为教师的根本条件就是有道,"无贵无贱,无长无少,道之所存,师之所存",只要是掌握了仁义之道,都可作为老师。他提倡求学无常师,要虚心好学,不耻下问。对师生关系,也有新见解,"弟子不必不如师,师不必贤于弟子,闻道有先后,术业有专攻",师生可以相互学习,他们的关系是有条件的,可以转化的,这是"教学相长"思想的新发展。这些观点具有民主性,也含有辩证法的因素,对教育理论作出了一定的贡献。唐以后的教育家,用《续师说》、《广师说》等为题,发表对师道的见解,均受《师说》的启发和影响。
