沙水寺
沙水寺，位于珠玑古巷神仙岭旁，沙水河畔，曾是岭南著名寺庙之一。宋德佑元年（1275）建，迄今已有700余年历史。沙水寺坐东向西，寺门正对巍峨挺拔的君子岭，沙水河千回百转，经寺院前蜿蜒南流。寺院占地面积2000多平方米，砖木结构，建筑呈阶梯式中轴平面布局，有三殿、二楼、禅房等。前殿为天王殿，二层，楼上为藏经阁。大殿左侧立有一块青石碑刻，上刻珠玑巷等44村乡民捐款修建沙水寺芳名。由前殿至中殿隔一坪院。中殿供奉关圣帝神像，护卫左为关平，右为周仓。中殿一手殿由一天井相连接。后殿称毗卢阁，供奉佛祖如来、观世音菩萨、以及罗汉、诸天菩萨等百余尊宰像，其中三尊为贴金菩萨。寺院两侧，左为钟楼，右为鼓楼，两楼相对，巍峨壮观。钟楼上悬铜钟，击之声闻数十里。鼓楼置大鼓一面，击之则与钟声相呼应。寺院内古树参天，花草荣茂，碧瓦朱甍，金碧交光。禅房斋堂依次分布，回廊四顾。寺院建筑浑然一体，气势雄伟壮观。每年九月初九日为“朝房节”（或称水陆道场）。附近必十个村庄的乡民上万人前往寺院进香拜佛。法事长达7天7夜，热烈而隆重，观众莫不竦然动容。入夜则“放河灯”，此为珠玑巷乡民特有的拜神酬神仪式。乡民自制纸船，船内置入樟脑，点燃后置于沙水河中任其漂流。这时，沙水里灯光摇曳，明烛映天，平添一派奇丽的景象和喜乐的气氛。寺院前右方有一井，名曰“朝房井”井水清澈甘冽，终年流涌不竭。据说取水煮菜，久煮不黄。又云珠玑巷每遇非常事故，井内便有紫气升腾。故乡民拜谒诸神后必往朝房井再拜井神。寺内前殿置放石狮一对。传说宋末时珠玑巷因胡妃事发，朝廷诏令血洗珠玑巷。胡妃逃匿于寺仙。为官后发现。寺内方丈为之求情，却被官兵用刀砍中头部。方丈的头落地后，身上流出白血，而身旁石狮的头也应声落地。霎时间天昏地暗，电闪雷鸣，飞沙走石，风雨交加。700多年来，“无头狮子”的故事一直盛传至今。建寺以来，每有高僧、名人来寺游览。明代憨山大师、清代澹归、天然罡禅师、现代太虚大师皆曾云游到寺。近年来，岭南名刹光孝寺本焕大和尚、南华禅寺佛源大和尚曾涉足寺院旧址。沙水寺是珠玑古巷重要的古建筑之一。因时代变迁，沧海桑田，沙水寺已圮废不存。1994年底，南雄珠玑巷后裔联谊会筹委会拟重建沙水寺，此事已得到香港、广州、韶关佛教界知名人士的关注和支持。
