光呼吸光呼吸photorespiration植物的绿色组织以光合作用的中间产物为底物而发生的吸收氧、释放二氧化碳的过程。此过程只在光照下发生,其生化途径和在细胞中的发生部位也与一般呼吸(也称暗呼吸)不同。四碳植物如玉米、甘蔗、高粱等的光呼吸很弱,在光下只放出很少的CO2,它们的CO2补偿点也较低,只有2~5vpm〔1vpm=1/1000000(体积比)〕。三碳植物如小麦、大豆、烟草等的光呼吸较强,可达一般空气中光合强度的50%;它们的CO2补偿点也较高,可达40~60vpm。三碳植物光合固定的碳有这么大的部分通过光呼吸重新放出,便降低了它们的光合效率。关于光呼吸的生理意义有几种不同意见。一种意见认为光呼吸是有害的过程,它使植物损失有机碳和能量。而这种损失是RuBP羧化酶在有氧条件下不可避免地发生加氧反应的结果。另一种意见认为光呼吸有积极的生理功能,它使叶片在光很强而CO2不足的情况下,维持叶片内部一定的CO2水平,来避免光合机构在无CO2时的光氧化破坏;一定的CO2水平也可使RuBP羧化酶经常处于活化状态,有利于光合作用的进行。此外,光呼吸过程中还生成甘氨酸和丝氨酸,从而与氮代谢相联系。
