土壤组合 一个地理区域内，两个以上不同的土壤分类单元所形成的格局。也是土壤的制图单元。由于制图比例尺较小，或因制图的目的不宜将格局拆开，即以所构成的格局为制图单元。由于母质、地形与水文因素的差异，在地理分布上构成不同的土壤组合。同一土壤带具有类似的土壤组合，但类似的土壤组合也可出现于不同的土壤带。同一土壤组合各成分的面积、数量、几何特性虽各异，但组合的结构形式基本一致。 1938年，美国C.E.凯洛格提出将土壤组合作为制图单位，称为"土壤组合制图单元"。同年美国农业部发表第一张全美土壤组合图。1971年，R.W.西蒙森按比例尺大小将土壤组合分为超级土壤组合、大土壤组合、中土壤组合和微土壤组合 4种。60年代以来美国各县土壤调查图，多采用土壤组合图。 土壤组合包括：①决定于微地形变化的组合。组合中各组分属于同一水热系列或水盐系列，如华北平原的花碱土、沙土与两合土的组合。②决定于中地形变化的组合。各组分属于不同的水热系列或水盐系列，如黑钙土地带沿地形高低出现的黑钙土、草甸黑土与暗色草甸土构成的组合。③由不同的母质而形成的组合。如紫色土、黄壤和黄色石灰土的组合。
