几  中国哲学关于事物变化征兆的术语,也引申为人的行为动机。"几"作为变化征兆的术语始于《易传》:"几者,动之微,吉(凶)之先见者也。"认为事物的变动先有微小的征兆显现出来,人们依据先兆可以预测吉凶变化,即由"知微"而达到"知彰",故曰:"知几其神乎!"这是说认识了"几"便可把握各种微妙的变化。易学十分注重见微而知著、识几而宏变的思维方法。唐代孔颖达解释《系辞》说:"几者,离无入有,是有之初微。以能知有之初微,则能兴行其事,故能成天下之事务也。"以事务变动的微兆处于离无入有之际,其理尚未显著解释"几",把知微看成是成就功业的重要途径。宋代周敦颐把"几"的概念用于人的行为萌动之初,说:"诚,无为;几,善恶。"认为诚是本性处于无为虚静状态,一念发动便有善恶之萌。从动机是否纯正,说明行为善恶之分。《易传》释几为"动之微"和周敦颐引申为行为的动机,为后来的许多哲学家所接受,也成为伦理学中说明动机的概念。
