肥胖基因分子式:CAS号:性质:又称OB基因。人和鼠肥胖基因编码脂肪组织中的一个4.5kbmRNA。5′端有97bp(碱基对)的先导序列,3′端是3.7kb的非翻译序列,中间是一个高度保守的开放阅读框编码167个氨基酸组成的蛋白质分子;人和鼠有84%的序列为同源性,而且都有分泌蛋白的功能特征,但仅在脂肪细胞内才能表达。肥胖基因表达的结果是产生一个含167个氨基酸(残基)的瘦蛋白或又称OB蛋白。分子量为16kD的单链。它是通过调节代谢和食欲来实现控制体重和脂肪的沉积。一旦肥胖基因失活或虽能过量表达但因突变而使瘦蛋白失活,则都可引起机体肥胖。肥胖基因的发现为治疗肥胖(症)开辟了一条新的道路。
