银川南门楼
银川南门楼
南门楼为银川古城六大城门之一,是至今保存下来的惟一的最完整的城门楼,群众习惯上称之为“南门楼”。它坐落在银川老城南薰路与中山南街交叉口处,门楼坐北朝南,前面有开阔的广场,是银川市举行重大庆典集会的场所。南薰门通高27.5米。砖包台基高7米,长88米,宽24.5米。台基正中壁有一南北向拱形门洞。台基北面门洞两侧有对称式的台阶,可登临而上。在高大的台座中央,建有歇山顶重檐二层楼阁,高20.5米。整座建筑结构严谨,廊檐彩绘,红墙碧瓦,气势宏大,素有“小天安门”之誉。南薰门始建年代不详,相传为1020年西夏党项族首领李德明将都城从灵州(灵武)迁至怀远(银川),大起宫室,扩建城池时建造,明洪武年间重修宁夏卫城,有“南曰南薰,上建南薰城”之记载。清乾隆三年(1739年)发生大地震,府城尽毁,城门亦坍塌。乾隆五年又重建,有“南楼秋色”一景。清宣统三年(1911年),南薰门毁于战火。民国初年再次修复。1953年,人民政府拆除了南薰门东西两侧的城墙,开辟了南门广场。1979年在门楼两侧修筑观礼台,南北种植花草树木。南薰门经过多次修葺后,在周围现代建筑物的烘托下,显得更加宏伟壮观。1985年被列为银川市文物保护单位。
