人面鸟身”灰陶胎泥俑,轮廓清晰,呈灰青色,高33厘米,肩宽15厘米,底口为椭圆形,直径14.5厘米,呈15°斜面,腹内空。身体背后有两似是展开翅羽的断痕,靠下侧有三圆孔,中间孔直径2厘米,两边各一圆孔,直径1厘米。保存基本完好。(如图)这尊“人面鸟身”灰陶泥俑充满神秘感,是采用人工刻、抹、捏、塑的手工制作后烧制而成。雕塑古朴,纹饰简洁流畅,面部有十分明显的清灵神韵,似为女性。头戴华丽的冠帽,青丝微露,帽顶平而前翘,顶正中有一断痕,似乎原有装饰物。冠帽雕塑精致,边刻有三朵盛开对称的菊花纹和攀枝绿叶纹,帽带垂肩,脸颊长瘦,肌肉饱满。额眉正中发间有一宝石状物体,柳叶眉,丹凤眼,双目微闭,鼻梁隆挺,嘴唇合闭,似带微笑,耳垂长,带有菊花纹耳饰,面部刻画得非常细腻逼真,生动传神。身体为袒胸露臂,肌肉和骨骼塑造颇富质感,完美的胸肌,有乳头。细纤的双臂上有带飘缠,双手拱于胸前作何状不得而知(已损坏)。衣饰纹简练流畅,胸下左右各有一支矫健的鸟腿和有三肢的鸟爪,羽毛纹刻画清晰可见。这尊人面鸟身结合的形象,在古神话中相当普及。人面标志其人性,以鸟身标志其天性,体现了万物有灵,人神互通,天人合一的时代特征。也反映出远古氏族对鸟的崇拜,认为“玄鸟生商”、鸟能托起太阳升起落下,其实质上也是对太阳及太阳神的崇拜。据《山海经·海外东经》记载:“东方句芒,鸟身人面,乘两龙”,郭璞注:“木神也,方面素服”。句芒是东方之神、木神,治春之神,曾帮助夏禹征服四方,使民不饥、国家实、民不夭。
