铁氧体铁氧体ferrite一般指含铁的磁性复合氧化物。广义指铁族或过渡金属的复合硫族化合物。又称铁淦氧、磁性瓷,典型代表是Fe3O4(磁铁矿),或写成FeO·Fe2O3,属尖晶石型铁氧体,其中氧离子形成两种不同的晶位结构,两种结构中的磁性离子(铁离子)间形成多种交换作用,从而产生元磁矩不能抵消的反铁磁性——亚铁磁性(见磁介质)。除上述亚铁磁性的铁氧体外,还有具有铁磁性、反铁磁性等广义的铁氧体。铁氧体中由于氧离子的存在,使磁性离子间的交换作用较弱,其饱和磁化强度要比金属磁性材料小,居里温度也较低(见铁磁性)。铁氧体是一种半导体性的磁性材料,其电阻率远比金属要高,而且随温度升高指数的减小,涡流损失较小,可用于高频的微波波段。铁氧体还是一种具有介电性质的磁性材料,某些铁氧体具有很高的电容率。铁氧体的用途很广。按用途可分为软磁铁氧体、硬磁铁氧体、旋磁铁氧体和压磁铁氧体等,此外还有优良磁光效应的透明铁氧体和较高载流子迁移率的半导体铁氧体等。铁氧体在微波技术、激光和计算技术等领域有重要应用。
