芗剧 戏曲剧种。流行于福建省龙溪、厦门、晋江和台湾省以及东南亚华侨聚居地区。闽南的民间说唱"锦歌"和歌舞"车鼓弄"、"采茶仔"（采茶褒歌）传入台湾后，经过"歌仔调"、"歌仔阵"等几个阶段，发展形成"歌仔戏"。1928年，歌仔戏班三乐轩以回乡祭祖为名，来到闽南龙溪白礁（今属龙海县），回台时，经厦门作首次公演。由于语言相同，观众感到十分亲切，满城争看,歌仔戏从此盛行于闽南。抗日战争初期,歌仔戏被视为"亡国调"，遭到禁演。老艺人邵江海等从"锦歌"中再改编出一种"杂碎调",并改进了大小哭调,吸收了民歌、山歌、褒歌和潮剧、高甲戏、京剧的部分曲调，创出了一套新的唱腔和伴奏曲牌,称为改良调,并把歌仔戏称为"改良戏",重新进入城市,搬上舞台。他们编演了《六月飞霜》、《卢梦仙》、《安安寻母》等剧,在城乡产生了广泛的影响。后来，漳、泉各地业余改良戏班社不断涌现,有挖笋农民组织的"筍仔班",卖豆花小贩组织的"豆花班"，麻袋工人组织的"布袋社"以及"水仙班"、"咸草班"等,一度发展至200多个。因其流行于龙溪芗江流域，1954年，定名为芗剧。 芗剧唱腔丰富，乡土气息浓郁。主要曲调有杂碎调、七字调、杂念调、各种哭调以及民间山歌、褒歌和"采茶调"、"十二送哥调"、"扭扭动"、"草蜢弄鸡公"、"十二文人闹"等小调。主要伴奏乐器有壳子弦（椰壳制，近似板胡）、大广弦（龙舌兰木制大筒胡琴）、台湾笛、三弦、月琴、鸭母笛等。传统剧目有500余本,有的来自"锦歌"唱本，有的由小说改编，有的移自其他剧种，如《郑元和》、《陈三五娘》、《千里送京娘》、《双巡按》等。较有影响的剧目有传统戏《三家福》，现代戏《碧水赞》等。著名演员有台湾籍艺人李少楼、陈玛玲和叶桂莲、姚九婴等。现有专业剧团11个。
